Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, California
So stoked to finally visit the Tuolumne / June Lake area. Since we planned on climbing in Yosemite the next day, we wanted to take it easy on day 1 to get our old, creaky bodies moving. The Lower Cathedral Lakes hike is a moderate and scenic hike that rewards you with a cool swim and majestic views of the neighboring Cathedral Peak. The hike follows the famous John Muir Trail and is a must do if you're in the area!
Distance: 7 miles (Out-and-Back)
Elevation Gain: ~1,500 ft.
Final Elevation: ~9,613 ft.
Directions to the start of the trail:
Use the directions feature in Google Maps and enter the following
coordinates exactly as shown. This will take you straight to the start of the trailhead. Park on the side of the road and place any food into the nearby storage bins by the trailhead to keep bears from ransacking your car.
This hike is located in Yosemite National Park so an entrance fee is required.
