Big Bear, California
Onyx Summit is the highest state highway summit in Southern California. While it is not really much of a hike, it is often overlooked for its beautiful granite rock climbing. There are over 20 routes ranging from 5.3-5.12c for both traditional and sport climbing. This area is definitely worth the visit if you're ever passing by Big Bear via Highway 38!

Directions to the Parking Lot and Trailhead: Use the following coordinates in Google Maps to route your directions to a pull off. Once you park, safely cross the highway until you find a worn trail leading to the crag. The approach is very short.
