Castle Rock State Park, California
Ever since I moved from Los Angeles to the Northern California's South Bay, I've been chasing forest-like hikes that remind me of home. The majority of the hikes in the South Bay are sad, sandy hills that overlook crowded cities and provide no good views or shade. Castle Rock State Park is the closest thing to home that I could find, surrounding me with the familiar forest that I'm so used to back home. In addition to all the hiking trails nearby, this spot is also home to many sandstone rock climbs. Come early if you want to get a good parking spot!
Distance: 6.4 miles (Loop)
Elevation Gain: 1,190 ft.
Highest Elevation: ~3,200 ft.
Directions to the Trailhead: Use the following coordinates in Google Maps to route your directions to a parking area just south of the Castle Rock Parking Lot. If the parking lot is filled or closed, there is parking just south of the lot along the road.

Parking lot was closed so we parked off on the side of the street. Walk back to the trailhead where you'll find the start of the Castle Rock Trailhead. You'll be taking this trail to the Saratoga Gap Trail, then to the Loughry Woods Trail, and finally onto the Skyline Trail.
There's so much green!
Beautiful views.
Continuing on...Passed through some campgrounds that I wasn't expecting to see.
Crossing onto the Skyline Trail.
Skyline Trail crossed the street to which you'll cross back to get back to your car / parking lot.
#56.
Chris's Difficulty Scale - 2/10
