#24 - San Antonio Falls (Creek) Canyon via Direct Approach (3B I)

05-06-2018

Mount Baldy, California

The San Antonio Falls Canyon is an easy and short technical canyon with plenty of wet rappels to satisfy any canyon craving. I believe the actual approach and drop in for this canyon is up the Baldy Ski Hut Trail to the Ski Hut. We took a direct approach that climbs a dirt hill that runs just to the right of San Antonio Falls. While the path isn't obvious from far away, once you get to the base of the hill, you'll immediately see the trail. There are four rappels with the longest rappel at ~90 ft. All rappels have bolted anchors.

Distance of the Approach: ~1 mile.

Directions to the Trailhead: Use the following coordinates in Google Maps to route your directions to the fire road.

The hike begins on a gated fire road and you'll  see the falls after ~10 minutes of hiking.

Start of the direct ascent to the drop in.

Drop in at the first rappel.

2nd rappel. Immediately after the first. It will be like this until the last one!

3rd rappel.

4th and last rappel. Sorry for the water droplets!

 #24!

Chris's Difficulty Scale (Approach Only) - 3/10
