Big Bear Lake, California
Slacking! It's been hard to update this blog consistently ever since I started working full time. Needed to get away and this was the perfect two day backpacking trip. My friends and I did a portion of the long Skyline Trail to Grandview Point on the most perfect weekend we could have asked for. There was minimal elevation gain (besides the last stretch to Grandview Point) allowing us to hike with our heavy packs and enjoy the views. It seems this trail is also popular to mountain bikers so be sure to yield to them. Let's get this going!
Distance: 12 miles (Out-and-Back)
Elevation Gain: The trail was flat most of the way.
Final Elevation: 7,784 ft.
Directions to the Parking Lot and Trailhead: Use the following coordinates in Google Maps to route your directions to the dirt parking lot and East Skyline trailhead.
34.2272653, -116.8673511
Dirt Parking Lot.
Start of the trail (hard to see but it curves right to left).
Optional log crossing (you can pass around it on the trail).
Follow a series of markers to Pine Knot / Grandview Point.
Continuing on...
Almost there!
