Sierra Madre, California
Dang it. Miles behind on these blog posts. Been crazy busy with work but I finally found a lazy Sunday with a good Dodger game to knock this out to. On a different note, I'm nearly done with documenting all of the Chantry Flats area! Been trying my hand (feet?) at trail running as well and it has been hard to keep up with. This trail was perfect for just that and I hope to keep at it.
Newcomb Pass is a continuation from Spruce Grove Campground to a pass that leads to Mt. Wilson via Rim Trail or De-Vore Campground via West Fork. Beautiful views and picnic tables for a good rest at multiple points on the trail.

From Santa Anita Ave, drive north onto Chantry Flat Rd. until you reach a parking lot. You will need an Adventure Pass to park here. The trail starts below the parking lot on a fire road going downhill.
Decided to take the Lower Gabrielino Trail today to change things up. The trail might not look immediately obvious but a weird scramble around some boulders will get you where you need to be.
Loved this shot near the top of the falls.
Continuing on... Watch your step!
Falling Sign Junction. Continue on to Spruce Grove Campground.
Blue skies!

Continue on to signs pointing to Newcomb Pass.
Made it! Ran into some backpackers coming from De-Vore Campground.
You can see some dirt roads that were made for the Mt. Wilson fire back in 2017.
