Palmdale, California
Supercloud Canyon is a lesser known technical canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains neighboring the more popular Cloudburst Canyon. Besides the semi-confusing approach, the descent is very straight forward with a mix of bomber natural and bolted anchors. I highly suggest using the topo provided on ropewiki to locate the drop-in point or you will get lost like we initially did. This canyon has 6 rappels with the longest rappel at 125 ft (two ropes required). Unfortunately a shuttle is required for this canyon but if you choose to opt out, you can loop the canyon by exiting the Gabrielino Trail to Mount Wilson Rd and walk a quarter mile back to your car. This will add 2 miles to your entire trip.
The approach starts at the Bill Reily Trailhead and follows a straight forward approach until you have to start bushwacking to the drop-in point.
Distance of the Approach: 3 miles
Elevation Gain: 800 ft.
Final Elevation: N/A
