#15 - Lower Emerald Pools (Zion National Park)

06/29/2015

Springdale, Utah

We had a little time to spare after Keyhole Canyon so we decided to drop by Lower Emerald Pools. It's a great spot for a rest day where you can soak in the beautiful scenery and waterfalls. The Lower Emerald Pools is unreal. It looks like a scene right out of a movie. This is a must do with little to no elevation gain. Bring the whole family!

Distance: 1.3 miles (Out-and-Back)

Elevation Gain: 114 ft.

Final Elevation: ~4,300 ft.

Directions to the Start of the Lower Emerald Pools Trail: Take the free Zion National Park shuttle service and get off on the Zion Lodge stop. Follow the sidewalk through the lawn and cross the road to a pedestrian bridge. Follow the signs to the Lower Emerald Pools Trail.

Crossing the lawn and following signs to the bridge and trail..

Continuing on...

Made it! It is beautiful here.

You can continue on to the Middle Pools and Upper Pools Trail. It's 2 miles out-and-back to Middle Pools and 3 miles out-and-back to Upper Pools. You can also take an alternative trail by exiting at The Grotto bus stop and taking the Kayenta Trail which is 2 miles out-and-back. Or link up the hikes between the Zion Lodge and The Grotto if you are feeling adventurous!
